Instant Records is an independent record label founded by legendary producer, songwriter and record executive Richard Gottehrer with co-pilot Allison Zatarain. The label borrows its name from Gottehrer’s original production company he formed after founding Sire Records with Seymour Stein, under which he produced artists such as Blondie, Richard Hell, The Go-Go's, Joan Armatrading and many others. More recently produced artists include The Raveonettes and Dum Dum Girls.

Gottehrer got his start as a songwriter in the infamous Brill Building, penning such classics as "My Boyfriend's Back," "Sorrow," "Nighttime," and "I Want Candy" which he performed in the group The Strangeloves.

Staying true to the company’s original vision of empowering independent artists in music, Instant Records focuses on bringing innovative recording artists to the forefront of the music scene. Gottehrer revitalized the label in 2013 with releases by the Brooklyn-based synth-pop trio Au Revoir Simone, Los Angeles alt rocker Queen Kwong, and Detroit rock'n'soul powerhouse Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas. Recent additions include new releases by Swedish rock duo Pale Honey, living legend Dion, and double-platinum Danish pop artist Fallulah.

In 2014, Gottehrer was honored for his contribution to the music industry with SESAC's Visionary Award.

The label is distributed through The Orchard, the pioneering company that Richard Gottehrer co-founded with Scott Cohen. The Orchard has revolutionized the digital music industry and created opportunity and exposure for global independent artists throughout the world.
